DELICIOUS GAARELU
A Traditional South Indian Recipe
250 grams of Black gram (Urad Dal), without husk.
500 grams of Refined Oil.
2 Finely chopped Onions,
6 Finely chopped Green Chillies.
Salt to Taste.

 

Soak the Black gram over night and Clean. By adding enough salt, pulverize into thick (as thick as possible) dough. Add the Onion pieces and chopped green chillies and mix thoroughly.

Put a deep bottomed pan on the stove, add oil and heat.

Prepare about four inch width and one inch thick circular discs ( Gaarelu ) with the dough and deep fry them on medium flame until they turn deep brown.

SERVE HOT WITH SWEET & HOT SAUCE.
