Newfoundland Fried Chicken
Fried Chicken
4 cups flour
2 tsp. meat tenderizer
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion salt
1 tsp. curry powder
1/4 cup salt
dip 1 beaten egg in 1 cup of milk
1 tsp. turmeric
2 tsp. pepper


Wash, then cut chicken into serving pieces. Shake off excess water. Dip chcken into egg white mixture. Shake off excess drippings and dip in flour and spice coating. In heavy pot, heat 2 inches oil at 350 degrees F. and fry 4 pieces at a time until both sides are golden brown. Drain well on paper towels. Transfer to a big baking dish and bake at 300 degrees F. for 45 minutes.
