Grandma Bertha's Dumplings
Soft Small Dumplings
1/2 cup oleo
1 cup water
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt

 

Mix flour and salt in medium bowl, set aside. In medium sauce pan put water and oleo, bring to the boiling point. Add all at once to the flour mixture and keep stirring till dough leaves the sides of the bowl. Cool slightly. Pinch off some dough about the size of a large marble and roll in your palm till nice and round. Have your soup (very good in chicken noodle soup) simmering and drop your dumplings in one at a time as you form them. Simmer for 10 minutes, then serve.
NOTE: My grandmother brought this recipe from germany with her when she came to america in 1889 to be married.
