Sugar Cookies

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
sprinkle of salt (optional)

Soften butter in heat, add sugar in bowl with butter. Add eggs one at a time while stiring. Stir in Vanilla.
In a separate - bowl. mix flour, and baking powder. Sprinkle salt.
Mix bowls together (till blended)
Chill for 2 hours until firm.
Roll dough out using a rolling pin and a sprinkle of flour. Cut out cookies using cookie cutters. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 8 minutes.
(Maybe a little longer depending on your oven).
Once cooled you can Ice Them.
Icing
3 c. icing sugar
1 Tbls. soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2-4 Tbls. milk
food coloring ( few drops)
