Ginger Bread from Sweden
A Classical Recipe for Great Ginger Breads!
150 ml molasses
300 ml sugar
150 ml whipping cream
200 g butter
1 Tbls. minced ginger
1 Tbls. minced cinnamon
1 Tbls. minced cloves
1/2 g cardamom
2 Tbls. baking powder
1000 – 1100 ml flour

Pour syrup, sugar and butter in a pot and heat on stove until the butter has melted.

Add whipping cream and spices and mix.

Mix baking powder with flour and add to the mixture. Leave the mixture to rest during the night.

Next day;
Preheat the oven at 200 degrees Celsius or 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Roll the dough thin on a floured baking table.

With pastry cutters of different shapes, cut out as many cookies as possible. Then carefully remove the dough around the cutters. After removing all surplus dough you remove the cutters and - voila – your cookies are ready for baking.

4. Put the cookies on oven paper or greased baking-plates.

5. Bake the cookies in the middle of the oven for approximately 5 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking-plate.

6. Now you can start decorating them with icing.

Preparation Time: 2 hours + 1 night Serves: 150-200 cookies
