Easy Bake Irish Brown Bread
2 cups self raising flour
2 cups stone ground whole meal flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. bread soda
1 egg
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Mix dry ingredients well.

Add egg, butter, and milk. Mix well. Knead for short while (very little kneading needed).

Put on baking tray and flatten to about 1 1/2 inch thick. Cut cross of 1/4 inch into top of cake and cook at 170 degrees C. for 40 minutes.

Oven temperatures vary so you may have to adjust the oven temperature slightly until you discover the correct temp. for perfect bread after 40 minutes.

When cooked wrap in a tea towel and put into a plastic bag and leave to cool. This ensures your crust remains soft.

Preparation Time: 10 mins. Serves: 2-4
