hwajeon (Korean traditional food)
Korean traditional rice cake
800g glutinous rice flour
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups boiled water
10 blossoms of yellow chrysanthemums
10 blossoms of yellow roses
10 jujubes
50g crown daisies
1 cup honey
cooking oil

 

1. Knead the glutinous rice flour with boiled water. Rap it with plastic wrap to make it smoother.
2. Pick petals from blossoms. Wash them in cold water, dry them.
Slice jujubes and roll them up. Pick leaves from crown daisies.
3. Roll out the glutinous rice dough to 0.6cm in thickness, 5cm in diameter.
4. Decorate the top of the dough with petals, jujubes and crown daisies.
5. Pan-fry the dough over low heat.
6. Enjoy the Hwajeon with honey.
